About Adult Day Ohio

Adult Day Services (ADS) are essential in Ohio’s care network, offering older adults meaningful socialization, support, and care tailored to their daily needs. ADS programs provide a welcoming space for older adults where they can stay engaged with their communities, connect with peers, and enjoy activities designed for their interests and abilities.

For caregivers, ADS offers essential respite, allowing them to attend to personal and professional responsibilities, knowing their loved ones are in a safe and enriching environment.

Recognizing the challenges ADS centers have faced—particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic—the Ohio Department of Aging provided $6 million in grant funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to revitalize these services across Ohio. This funding has supported updates to facilities, transportation, workforce growth, and new ADS centers to better serve Ohio’s communities.

With guidance from Miami University’s Scripps Gerontology Center and LeadingAge Ohio, ADS providers are equipped with new tools and resources to help families understand the benefits of ADS and to make informed choices. This guide, designed with caregivers and participants in mind, offers practical insights, real stories of impact, and a pathway to connect with ADS centers in your area. For additional information and resources, visit adultdayohio.org to explore a statewide directory, learn about the positive impact of ADS, and access tools that make it easy to find supportive, compassionate care close to home.

This website is designed to help Ohioans understand the value and benefits of ADS, providing clear information about available resources and support options.
