About Adult Day Ohio
Adult Day Services (ADS) are essential in Ohio’s care network, offering older adults meaningful socialization, support, and care tailored to their daily needs. ADS programs provide a welcoming space for older adults where they can stay engaged with their communities, connect with peers, and enjoy activities designed for their interests and abilities.
For caregivers, ADS offers essential respite, allowing them to attend to personal and professional responsibilities, knowing their loved ones are in a safe and enriching environment.
Recognizing the challenges ADS centers have faced—particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic—the Ohio Department of Aging provided $6 million in grant funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to LeadingAge Ohio to revitalize these services across Ohio. This funding has supported updates to facilities, transportation, workforce growth, and new ADS centers to better serve Ohio’s communities.
The Scripps Gerontology Center’s 2024 Landscape of Adult Day Services in Ohio project describes the current state of ADS. This study included focus groups of ADS providers sharing their experiences, challenges, and potential solutions to revitalize the industry. Additionally, researchers collected descriptive information about the centers through a survey of ADS providers.
This website is designed to help Ohioans understand the value and benefits of ADS, providing clear information about available resources and support options.
